During the first half of an NFL football game on Sunday, November 16, 2025, in Pittsburgh, quarterback Aaron Rodgers (8) of the Pittsburgh Steelers is assisted off the field following a hit by the Cincinnati Bengals.
Pittsburgh — Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback for Pittsburgh, worked out on Friday while wearing a brace for his broken left wrist, which will allow him to play when the Steelers travel to Chicago on Sunday.
Rodgers broke the brace on his left wrist late in the second quarter of a 34-12 victory against Cincinnati last weekend, but according to coach Mike Tomlin, Rodgers was able to practice in a limited capacity and didn't seem to have any serious problems with it.
As Pittsburgh (6-4) attempts to win in Chicago (7-3) for just the second time in the team's history, Tomlin stated that Rodgers is dubious.
Tomlin remarked, "I thought I saw a solid effort, but it's Friday and so we still got some time."
This week, both Tomlin and Rodgers emphasized that the 41-year-old's ability to defend himself will be crucial in determining whether or not he plays.
If Rodgers, who is 24-5 overall against Chicago, with an 11-1 record at Soldier Field, is unable to play, Mason Rudolph will start.
Tomlin shrugged when asked how he decides between a starter at less than 100% and a capable backup. Rudolph is unbeaten in his previous three starts with Pittsburgh and performed admirably after replacing Rodgers against Cincinnati.
"You go through thoughtful decision-making almost every day, especially this time of year when you get into the meat of things," he explained.
"It says a lot about his pain tolerance that he's out there going through reps (today)," Howard remarked. "Man, he's a tough dude."
Over his 21-year career, Rodgers—the quarterback with the most sacks in NFL history—has proven to be incredibly resilient. He missed time when playing for Green Bay in 2013 and 2017 due to a broken collarbone, and he missed all but four snaps of his debut season with the New York Jets in 2023 because of a torn Achilles.
He has earned four MVP awards and a Super Bowl during his career, but aside from that, he has mostly avoided injuries. Since his incredibly successful tenure as Green Bay's starting quarterback from 2008 to 2022, he has been a pain in the Bears' side for well over ten years.
